Julian Alaphilippe couldn’t hide his frustration with the potential merger between Jumbo-Visma and Soudal Quick-Step. The two-time world champion expressed sadness about his team’s situation, making these comments in front of the Cycling Pro Net cameras.
“We don’t know much,” said Alaphilippe before the start of the Coppa Bernocchi. “It’s a bit complicated for everyone. We try to focus on racing and hope the situation gets resolved, that we have good news. Because it’s a bit annoying.”
Regarding the uncertain future of the Wolfpack (as the team is affectionately known), Alaphilippe also said the following: “It’s especially sad because it’s a team that has been at the heart of cycling for years. It’s a team with a great history. It’s sad, but… It’s not that time yet. We won’t cry, and we’re waiting for good news. We’re all waiting.”
