Juan Ayuso with a new project, aiming for the future of Spanish cycling

Juan Ayuso may be just twenty years old, but the Spanish cyclist is already creating his own junior team. With the support of the Ayuso Foundation, the UAE Team Emirates athlete plans to develop promising young talents from the Valencia region, as reported by the Spanish sports website Relevo.

Ayuso, who is about to turn 21 in a little over two weeks, is showing an early commitment to the future of Spanish cycling. He is establishing his own training team through the Ayuso Foundation. This foundation won’t limit its focus solely to cycling but also aims to get involved in other spheres, including social areas.

The junior team will operate from the Valencia region and in the coming year, it will primarily compete in regional and national competitions, with occasional trips across the Spanish border. According to Relevo, Ayuso has already made selections and filled the positions in the technical staff.

Ayuso is following in the footsteps of his compatriots Alberto Contador and Alejandro Valverde. The two prominent figures in Spanish cycling – now retired – decided to create their own foundations and junior teams a few years ago. For instance, Valverde currently heads two under-21 squads, one for women and one for men.
