Juan Ayuso breaks record in iconic rise that belonged to Jonas Vingegaard; check times and power data

Cyclist Juan Ayuso is finishing his preparation for the 2024 season, which will begin next Monday with his participation in the Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior. Ayuso, this Sunday, published an activity on his Strava account where he demonstrated his form, before his inaugural competition, stating: “We are ready”.

An impressive show of strength

Ayuso completed a training session of 178 km and 2,415 meters of elevation difference through the mountains of Alicante in 5 hours and 1 minute. In activity, he twice faced one of the classic pre-season promotions for the squad: the Coll de Rates.

This route is a good indicator to measure the physical fitness of cyclists. On the first route through Coll de Rates, 6.52 kilometers with an average gradient of 5.2%, Ayuso finished in 13 minutes and 51 seconds with a speed of 28.3 km/h.

He saved his energy to make a second attempt 40 kilometers later, where Ayuso recorded an impressive climb. He completed the route in 12 minutes and 49 seconds, with an average speed of 30.5 km/h (detail: the wind was contrary to the Spanish).

Power data reveals Ayuso’s form

Ayuso improved his best time by 9 seconds, recorded on December 31, surpassing the time of Danish Jacob Hindsgaul by 11 seconds and by 13 seconds the time that Jonas Vingegaard recorded in 2018, when he finished the climb in 13 minutes and 2 seconds.
