Jonas Vingegaard: “I have only one goal, the hat-trick of the Tour de France,” declares the Danish cyclist to La Gazzetta dello Sport

Jonas Vingegaard will maintain his focus on the Tour de France in his racing schedule for 2024. However, even with this emphasis, the Danish cyclist has not ruled out the possibility of extending his stay in France to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris.

“It would be very nice,” Vingegaard said about a potential Olympic appearance in a conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport. “But for now, I have only one goal: to achieve the hat-trick at the Tour. We’ll see afterward,” the 27-year-old athlete says enigmatically.

Tour de France mais difícil, sem Wout Van Aert

“Of the Grand Tours, I will only participate in the Tour de France. I will start in Spain at O Gran Camiño (from February 22 to 24), and instead of Paris-Nice, I’ll be in Tirreno-Adriatico (from March 4 to 10). And the Tour de France, those are my four races on the schedule for now,” says Vingegaard.

“This year, in the Tour, we had less pressure than in 2022 because we had already won it. In 2024, it will be more difficult because Van Aert won’t be there. However, I’ll have Kuss, Benoot, Laporte, and Van Baarle with me.”

In 2024, Jonas Vingegaard will not have the assistance of his faithful teammate on other occasions, Wout Van Aert.

“It will be challenging because competitors like Evenepoel and Pogacar will be there. I am less comfortable. It will be interesting to see how I prepare for all of this,” concludes the two-time Tour de France champion.
