The two-time Tour de France champion, Jonas Vingegaard, and Vuelta a España winner, Sepp Kuss, have decided to extend their contracts. Both will continue representing Team Visma-Lease a Bike. Vingegaard will remain with the Dutch team until the end of 2028, making it one of the longest contracts in the peloton. Sepp Kuss, on the other hand, will stay until 2027.
Vingegaard had already terminated his contract in 2023
Vingegaard had already terminated his contract in mid-April and has now extended it until the end of 2027. This means that an additional year will be added, as reported by the Dutch website WielerFlits. This demonstrates Vingegaard’s confidence in the team that led him to victory in the overall classification of the Tour de France in the last two years.
Commercial interests also influenced the renewal of Sepp Kuss’s contract.
Sepp Kuss had a contract with Visma-Lease a Bike until the end of 2024. The American cyclist was speculated to be in various teams after his surprising victory in the last edition of the Vuelta a España. It is particularly important for the sponsor Lease a Bike that they have a strong American cyclist, as this company PON and Volkswagen will focus entirely on the American commercial bike leasing market in the coming years.
