The Vuelta a España has been filled with daily accidents so far, and there are no signs of it stopping. In the 8th stage of the race, there was wet pavement in Valencia, and one of the favorites for the general classification, João Almeida, fell and needed assistance.
The incident occurred in the early kilometers of the day. The team, which had already lost Jay Vine due to a fall, saw Almeida go down. He regained his position in the peloton with unclear injuries; however, he needed assistance from the medical car. It’s not a good sign on a day that will be important for the general classification, with the challenging ascent to Xorret del Catí.
The Cycling Post will be providing continuous updates on the condition of the Portuguese rider during the Vuelta a España.
