INEOS Grenadiers members have faced a leadership void since the surprising departure of Rod Ellingworth. However, it seems that a successor has now been identified. Cycling journalist Felix Lowe shared on social media that the experienced Scott Drawer is set to take on the role of Performance Director for INEOS Grenadiers.
Scott Drawer currently serves as the Director of Sport at Millfield School, one of the largest private educational institutions in the UK. Despite his relative unfamiliarity in the cycling scene, Drawer has a solid background in the British sports milieu. He previously held positions as the Manager at the Team Sky Performance Hub from 2016 to 2018, and he has been the Head of Research and Innovation at both the British Olympic Committee UK Sport (2003-2013) and the English Institute of Sport (2013-2014).
Although not a widely recognized name in cycling, Drawer is familiar with the inner workings of the Team Sky organization. At INEOS Grenadiers, he is the intended candidate to succeed Rod Ellingworth, who surprisingly resigned in mid-November. Ellingworth held the position of deputy team principal since 2021, following Sir Dave Brailsford’s promotion.
INEOS Grenadiers confirmed Ellingworth’s departure but chose not to provide additional comments or explanations regarding the decision.
