It seems like the surprises in this Vuelta a España are never-ending. A team time trial in total darkness, torrential rain, individuals attempting to spill oil on the road, and now… a stretch of mud in the final kilometer of the ninth stage.
Kristof Meul, a reporter from Sporza, and several other journalists are sharing images on social media of the last few hundred meters of Alto Caravaca de la Cruz. These images reveal that there is a lot of mud on the course, and there is also a thick fog hanging over the final climb. This promises to be quite a challenge.
