The Tour of Lombardy has unveiled the route for the upcoming edition, which will be identical to the course used two years ago. The highly anticipated “Race of the Falling Leaves,” promising a showdown between Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, and the confirmed participation of Primoz Roglic, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 7th.
The race will start in Como, where it also finished in 2022. After the start, the route proceeds to the Madonna del Ghisallo, which is merely a warm-up for what lies ahead. Following that, it traces the shores of Lake Como before tackling the climbs of Roncola (9.4 km at 6.6%), Berbenno (6.9 km at 5%), and Crocetta (11.6 km at 5.8%), leading to Zambla Alta (9.8 km at 3.3%).
The Passo di Ganda (9.3 km at 7.1%) is the last major ascent, forty kilometers from the finish. Just five kilometers from the finish, the Colle Aperto (1.3 km at 7%) is the final climb that can make a difference. The finish line will be in Bergamo, after covering 238 kilometers.
Last year, when the finish was still in Como, Tadej Pogacar claimed victory in the Tour of Lombardy. The Slovenian also won in 2021 on the same course that riders will tackle again this year. At the time, he triumphed over Fausto Masnada in a sprint finish.
