After much discussion and an uneventful stint with the UAE Team Emirates, where he spent 2 years, New Zealand climber George Bennett, 33 years old, has announced his new team. He will be joining Israel-Premier Tech.
This change could grant him more freedom, perhaps even a leadership role in a stage race, which would be impossible in a team where riders like Tadej Pogacar, João Almeida, and Juan Ayuso are present. Before joining the UAE Emirates team, he was with another super team, spending seven years with Jumbo-Visma.
His most notable result is probably his second-place finish in the 2020 edition of Il Lombardia, and with Israel-Premier Tech, he hopes to achieve significant results and contribute to the team’s ongoing quest for UCI points.
