A week after suffering an intense crash in the final stage of the third stage of the Santos Tour Down Under, Rudy Molard faces a complicated start to the Australian season. The Groupama-FDJ cyclist, who suffered a concussion and was kept under observation for two days in Adelaide hospital, shared the news this Thursday through his group X account.
In his statement, Molard revealed that he is still in Australia, and the image published on his Instagram account after the incident reflects the marks left by the fall. “After my fall at the Tour Down Under, I spent 48 hours in hospital. To clean the wounds and redo the bandages, I was placed under general anesthesia so as not to suffer too much.”
Concussion still bothers
“The wounds remain superficial, even though the ones on my hands bother me a lot. On the other hand, concussion is very uncomfortable. I have a headache, I’m tired. I couldn’t go back to France, so I’m recovering here with the team.”
“I also have to avoid screens. Anyway, after 3 or 4 minutes, I feel like I have to put the phone down. I can take short walks around the hotel,” he continued.
“I’ve never had a concussion, I know I shouldn’t take any risks. I have no memory of the fall. My general condition is improving, it is still too early to plan my recovery program. I will recover well and come back with even more desire”, concluded Rudy Molard.
