Julian Alaphilippe can rest assured about his sporting future. In case he is affected by the merger between Jumbo-Visma and Soudal Quick-Step, he will have the option of receiving support from TotalEnergies. Patrick Pouyanné, the CEO of the major oil company, communicated this to the French newspaper Ouest France.
In recent days, Pouyanné has discussed Julian Alaphilippe with Jean-René Bernaudeau, the manager of Team TotalEnergies. There is interest in the two-time world champion, as Pouyanné acknowledges in a statement to Ouest France.
“Jean-René Bernaudeau has a sports project focused on young talents, with a predominantly French team. This is a project that TotalEnergies supports,” Pouyanné writes. “As I’ve mentioned before, as the main sponsor of the team, we are interested in a cyclist beloved by the French public, like Julian Alaphilippe. If Julian is ready to join the team’s project, he will be welcome.”
