Greg Van Avermaet, aged 38, will conclude his long and successful career at the upcoming Paris-Tours.
A winner of two Tour de France stages, an Olympic gold medal, Tirreno-Adriatico, Paris-Roubaix, Gent-Wevelgem, and much more throughout his lengthy career, van Avermaet recently announced that this would be his final year as a professional cyclist.
Only two races remain on van Avermaet’s calendar. First, the AG2R Citroën Team rider will compete in his final race on home turf at the Binche-Chimay-Binche/Mémorial Frank Vandenbroucke before participating in Paris-Tours.
“Happy to be back in the peloton after being sick,” he wrote on X after racing the Circuit Franco Belge on Thursday. “The end of the season (and my career) is getting closer. Three more races to go: Nationals gravel, Binche-Chimay-Binche, and Paris-Tours.”
