Jarno Mobach was forced to end his cycling career. The 25-year-old Dutchman, who was under contract with VolkerWessels this season, suffers from cardiac arrhythmia. In 2016, Mobach won the Paris-Roubaix for juniors.
“It is with regret that I must inform you that I will have to stop cycling due to a cardiac arrhythmia,” Mobach wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone who helped me live my dream over all these years.”
From 2017 to 2020, Mobach raced for the Team Sunweb development team, which later became Team DSM-Firmenich. In his debut season with the team, he won a stage at the Olympia’s Tour. After a few years of inactivity, he switched to Leopard in 2021 and raced for this Luxembourg-based squad for two years. Starting from the current season, he competed for VolkerWessels but hadn’t been wearing the team’s jersey since April when the first symptoms appeared. He underwent tests in recent months, which revealed he suffers from severe cardiac arrhythmia.
