“Forget Vingegaard, follow Roglic,” Belgian journalists warn Remco Evenepoel.

Belgian analysts Marc Sergeant and Dirk De Wolf tell the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad that Evenepoel should focus on just one rider. “Even if Jumbo had three captains in a group of ten, what’s the problem?” asks Sergeant. “Ultimately, Remco only needs to keep an eye on one.” De Wolf agrees with his colleague: “If I were Remco: just follow Roglic for twenty days.”

De Wolf goes further. “Yes, we now see it this way: Remco is competing against the Tour winner. But I want to see Vingegaard’s race first. Will he really reach his highest level? I think Remco will mainly compete against Roglic, more than against the Tour winner.”

This battle will repeat itself. Evenepoel in red and Primoz Roglic.

“That’s what I think too,” Sergeant interjects. “If Jumbo-Visma plays the collective game, I would also focus on Roglic primarily. Especially since they also have João Almeida, Juan Ayuso, and Enric Mas.”

The pair of analysts are fervently hoping for this scene to repeat.

De Wolf assures that Evenepoel is prepared for the battle. “These guys are all going to be very eager. So let them do the work. I’m sure Remco is ready.”
