Mads Pedersen took victory on stage 3 of the Etoile de Bessèges, one day after his defeat to Axel Laurance (Alpecin deceuninck). The Danish driver from Lidl-Trek was faster than the Belgian Milan Menten (Lotto Dstny).
Escape of the day
A strong group marked the escape of the day with Simon Carr, Alexis Gougeard, Sander de Pestel, Thibault Guernalec, Jonas Abrahamsen, Thomas Gachinard and Théo Delacroix. The group of seven was a threat to the stage win, but proved not strong enough to contain the peloton, which broke away with 13km to go.
Tudor’s Marco Brenner attacked with just over 5 kilometers to go, but ended up being caught almost in the final kilometer. However, Lidl-Trek prepared the arrival for Mads Pedersen and the former world champion did not let the opportunity slip away.
