Enric Mas is having a good Vuelta a España so far. In the thirteenth stage, he also joined the group of favorites who crossed the line together. However, nothing seems to be possible against Jumbo-Visma, although Mas, now in fifth place in the general classification after the 14th stage, can be proud of his performance.
Plan failed at the beginning of the stage
Mas and his Movistar team had a plan in advance, but it quickly failed in the early phase. “It may not have been the battle we expected, but everything happened very quickly. Our tactic of sending riders to the front didn’t go as we hoped,” he told the Spanish newspaper AS.
However, Mas still hopes for a turnaround. “Kuss has never been a leader in a Grand Tour. We know he can have a bad day, but maybe not in this Vuelta,” said the Spaniard, who also suggested a possible alliance against Jumbo-Visma. “I hope we can join forces, understand each other, and change the course of things.”
