After the end of the 18th stage of the Vuelta, images of an unfortunate incident surfaced on social media involving a member of the Jumbo-Visma staff who was assisting the cyclists after the stage. He was violently brought down by three officers from the Guardia Civil. Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard watched the entire event from a distance.
The caregiver tried to get up, but the police didn’t allow it to happen. When another man came to speak, the officers seemed to have calmed down a bit and took the caregiver away. He was not reported to have been arrested.
However, shortly after, new images emerged that provide some clarity. Before the police intervention, the staff member of the Dutch team pushed one of the officers when he asked him to move out of the way of a support vehicle.
