The rumor was already circulating, but now it is definitive: Edvald Boasson Hagen will race for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale in 2024. The French team confirmed the information. The 36-year-old Norwegian signs for one season and becomes the team’s 30th cyclist, completing the French team.
“I am very happy with this opportunity. Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale is part of cycling history and is a very solid team”, says the former Gent-Wevelgem winner, on his new team’s website.
“I come to strengthen the core of the spring classics, with the aim of serving the team in the best way possible. I want to pass on my experience to younger cyclists, but also guarantee one last professional victory.”
Team Manager happy with the hire
Team manager Vincent Lavenu is happy with his latest acquisition for 2024. “Edvald has a lot of experience and has also had a lot of successes. I’ve followed him since his amateur days, when he was too strong to compete among amateurs.”
“Edvald will strengthen the spring core of our team. His experience will be very valuable. He is able to boost our leaders at the right time, including in sprints.”
