The Australian media reports that Rohan Dennis, Two-time Time Trial World Champion (2018 and 2019), on his penultimate day at Jumbo-Visma, was arrested, accused of killing his wife, Melissa Dennis.
Melissa Dennis, 32, whose maiden name is Hoskins, was the victim of a hit-and-run by a Ute, a pickup truck, just meters from her residence on Saturday, December 30, shortly after 8 p.m. After the incident, she was immediately transported in critical condition to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where, unfortunately, she did not survive the injuries.

A Australian police issued a statement confirming the fatality, stating that, following the accident in Medindie the previous night, a man was detained. Emergency services were called after a report of a woman struck by a vehicle around eight o’clock in the evening.

According to reports from the Australian media, 33-year-old Dennis was driving the Ute at the time of the incident. He was subsequently arrested and faces charges of “death by dangerous driving, careless/inattentive driving, and endangering life.” Dennis was released on bail, with the obligation to appear in court on March 13.
