TotalEnergies is set to continue the Vuelta a España with only six riders. Following Pierre Latour’s early abandonment, Alan Jousseaume is also expected to leave the competition. The 25-year-old Frenchman suffered a hip fracture during a fall.
“Alan Jousseaume broke his right hip in his fall during the twelfth stage,” TotalEnergies revealed in a brief statement on social media. “Our cyclist will not start the thirteenth stage as he is forced to withdraw. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Josseaume still finished yesterday’s stage to Zaragoza after the fall, although he was more than nine minutes behind the stage winner, Juan Sebastián Molano. A day earlier, he was part of the breakaway in the mountain stage to La Laguna Negra and ultimately finished 13th on the challenging final ascent.
