Orluis Aular from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA secured victory in the 5th stage of the 2023 CRO Race and took over the overall lead of the race. The 5th stage of the Croatian competition covered a distance of 189km from Crikvenica to Ozalj.
After being part of a breakaway with Fran Miholjević from Bahrain-Victorious, which was caught by the peloton near the final 20 km, the stage came down to a sprint where INEOS attempted to lead, but their main rider, Magnus Sheffield, couldn’t succeed.
In the sprint, Orluis Aular (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA) proved to be the fastest and strongest, clinching victory ahead of Alexander Kristoff (UNO-X Pro Cycling Team) and Ethan Hayter (INEOS Grenadiers). The Venezuelan rider thus took the overall classification lead in the Croatian competition.
