Matej Mohoric (Bahrain Victorious) won the fourth stage of the CRO Race. In the stage starting in Krk and finishing in Labin, covering 191km, the Slovenian was the fastest, from a reduced peloton, on a short cobbled climb. Magnus Sheffield, who finished second in the stage, took over the leader’s jersey from Tobias Lund Andresen (Team dsm-firmenich).
This was the queen stage of the CRO Race. During the fourth stage, the cyclists faced a challenging section, with the toughest ascent of the competition, measuring 13.3 km with an average gradient of 5.7%. And in the final part of the stage, a new climb of almost 6km with just under 5% served to test the riders’ endurance. Additionally, the last 1.8 kilometers had a 5.8% incline.”
After a big selection, in this penultimate selection there was a small group of competitors left who would contest the stage finish, with Uno-X taking the lead and preparing a train for Kristoff. However, he ended up out of the sprint in the last three hundred meters. INEOS then took control of the race, trying to lead Ethan Hayter to the finish.
Mohoric came from behind
Matej Mohoric had been jumping from wheel to wheel. He launched from afar and kept up the effort to the end. For INEOS, Magnus Sheffield ended up performing better than Ethan Hayter and finished in second place. Third place went to Orluis Aular (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA).
With the result, Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) takes the overall lead in the competition.
