In an exciting race Alejandro Osorio (GW Erco Shimano) won the Colombian National Championship. Sergio Higuita (BORA-Hansgrohe) took 2nd place and Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) closed the podium in 3rd place.
Electrifying race to the end of the championship
From the beginning to the end, it was an exciting race, without rest and with several escape attempts. Alejandro took advantage of an escape to win.
Sergio Higuita and Egan Bernal worked together trying to hunt down Osorio’s escape and came close to catching him. However, they only managed to reach the podium, taking second and third place respectively.
Nairo Quintana, Rigoberto Uran and Esteban Chaves were unable to catch up with the escaped group and finished the race with the peloton.
Osorio’s first gold at the Colombian National Championship
Osorio achieved his first victory in the Colombian National Championship. Higuita narrowly missed out on the third victory of his career at the event, and Bernal adds his second podium after the silver achieved in 2020.
