Since Saturday, there has been intense turmoil regarding Cian Uijtdebroeks’ move from BORA-Hansgrohe to Jumbo-Visma. While the Dutch team officially presented the Belgian cyclist as their newest addition, BORA-Hansgrohe clarified that Uijtdebroeks has a valid contract with the German team until December 31, 2024. Now, Cédric Vasseur, the head of the Cofidis team, also joins the discussions.
Vasseur did not accept the turn of events and directed his anger towards Richard Plugge, the manager of the Jumbo-Visma team, which will be known as Visma-Lease a Bike. “What is this again as the president of the AIGCP (Plugge is also the president of the interest group for professional cycling teams)??? Respect the rules and resign immediately!!! Leave,” vehemently criticizes the Frenchman via X.
Staff de Cian Uijtdebroeks confirms the departure.
