Cian Uijtdebroeks’ focus will be on the Giro d’Italia in the upcoming season. The promising Belgian, still involved in a transfer saga, hopes to achieve a good ranking in the Italian round on behalf of Visma-Lease a Bike.
“It’s really nice to be here,” said the young cyclist. “Last week, I was at the Training Camp with the team, and the atmosphere was very good. I am very happy.”
“The Visma-Lease a Bike team is very well-organized. Everyone tries to make the most of it. But all with a smile. That’s what I was looking for. That’s why I’m in the right place here.”

“The Giro will be my main goal. I’m really looking forward to this Grand Tour. We want to win stages as a team, but personally, I also hope to achieve a good ranking.
“However, I can race without pressure. I will have a free role, and I can see where I stand. Especially with someone like Tadej Pogacar present, it will be good to see how I measure up now. In the coming months, I can assess how we will reach that level.”
CEO of Visma-Lease a Bike reveals happiness over the signing
Uijtdebroeks himself didn’t talk much about the commotion surrounding his transfer from BORA. However, General Manager Richard Plugge indicated that the transfer is entirely correct. “You saw Cian on stage, so everything worked out in the end.”
“There is a happy ending to everything, I think that’s the most important. He was on stage here, and we are very happy about it. And he is too. This is a very good outcome for all parties. Was I shocked by the noise? No, I’m not afraid anymore. If Bora is happy with it too? You have to ask them that.”
