Chris Froome has confirmed that he will continue racing in 2024 with Israel-Premier Tech, and the Tour de France is at the center of his plans. Despite a challenging campaign marked by his exclusion from the 2023 Tour de France team, the four-time Tour winner stated that he is committed to competing in the French race next season.
“Even though I’m not winning like I used to before the crash, I’m still enjoying racing,” he told FloBikes. “I have no intention of stopping.” Speaking to FloBikes at the Tour of Hainan in China this weekend, Froome confirmed that he will stay with Israel Premier Tech at least until the end of the 2024 season.
“It’s been a tough season for me this year,” Froome said from China. “Obviously, having worked hard to try to get into the Tour and missing out on that. I had to reset a little bit and go back to the drawing board on a few things.”
Focus on one-week races ahead of the Tour de France
“I’m going to focus much more on one-week stage races. Maybe stay away from some one-day races,” he said. “Some stage races with consecutive mountain stages would be a good test for me to see at what level I’ll be for the Tour de France.”
