Paul Magnier won the Ses Salines-Felanitx Trophy, securing victory in his first race for the Soudal Quick-Step team. The French cyclist, just 19 years old, counted on the excellent work of his teammate Luke Lamperti, his pacesetter in the competition, who finished in 3rd place. 2nd place went to Alberto Dainese from Tudor Pro Cycling Team.
Race with a rising finish
The competition had 173km on the program and ended on a slight climb. However, nothing that stopped the sprinters from competing for the finish. An initial escape was formed, taking advantage of the favorable wind, which allowed an hourly average of close to 45km/hr for a good part of the race.
In the last 10km the escape was achieved and the peloton headed towards a sprint finish. In the ascending finale, Soudal Quick-Step placed no less than 6 cyclists in its finishing train, reminiscent of QuickStep’s golden days. Despite the extremely high pace of the other trains, sprinter Paul Magnier, just 19 years old, accelerated to the finish after excellent work from his teammate, Luke Lamperti.
