After a very challenging Tour de France for him and which revealed significant tensions with Stéphane Heulot, his general manager, Caleb Ewan resumed competition ten days ago during the Grand Prix de Fourmies/La Voix du Nord, a race he eventually abandoned.
Last Sunday, Ewan abandoned another competition before the finish line, the Flèche de Gooik. This Wednesday, the five-time Tour de France stage winner was supposed to continue with the Circuit Houtland, another event for sprinters, but on Wednesday morning, his team, Lotto Dstny, announced that he had been removed from the start list.
Wrist Injury
“Caleb Ewan is suffering from a wrist injury. That’s why he abandoned the Flèche de Gooik, and it’s also the reason he won’t start the Circuit Houtland. He is suffering from “acute tendinopathy of the right wrist and is currently being treated in Belgium. We still don’t know when Caleb will return to competition,” said the Belgian ProTeam on their Twitter account.
