Cesare Benedetti, Jonas Koch, Frederik Wandahl, and Ryan Mullen have had their contracts renewed with BORA-hansgrohe for the upcoming year. The German team extended the contracts of these cyclists, which were set to expire at the end of 2023.
Benedetti, 36 years old, will begin his 15th season with BORA-hansgrohe and the teams that preceded it. The Italian, who became a naturalized Polish citizen, started his cycling career in 2010 with Team NetApp and has always remained loyal to the German outfit. Benedetti is known as a loyal helper who can also escape, as he did in 2019 when he won the 12th stage of the Giro d’Italia, still his only professional victory.
Koch (30) and Wandahl (22) have been with BORA-hansgrohe since 2022 and 2021, respectively. The German Koch is known for being an important part of the sprint train. Koch is also part of the team’s classics core. Meanwhile, Wandahl is a promising classics specialist. The Danish rider finished 8th in the Bretagne Classic and 11th in the Circuito de Getxo (Spain) this year.
Mullen, 29, will begin his third season with BORA-hansgrohe in 2024. The Irish cyclist is often used in the spring classics and also works for the team’s leaders. Mullen won a new Irish Time Trial title this year and also competed in the European Championships (17th) and World Championships (19th) in Time Trial in Emmen and Stirling, respectively.
