Belgium’s prominent cyclocross star, Toon Aerts, has been handed a two-year suspension from competitions following a positive doping test result for the substance letrozole, known for its ability to stimulate testosterone production.
Despite previously winning the World Cup, Aerts claimed that the positive test result was due to the contamination of a dietary supplement, but this assertion could not be substantiated.
As a result, the International Cycling Union (UCI) has imposed a two-year ban on participating in cycling competitions for Toon Aerts, starting from February 16, 2022. It was announced on Friday, August 18, that the results between the positive test and the provisional suspension have also been nullified.
Letrozole Metabolite is used by individuals who take anabolic steroids and wish to block feminizing effects or increase testosterone production. It is strictly prohibited both in and out of competition and is considered a “specified substance” that does not require mandatory provisional suspension.
