Melissa Dennis tragically died on Saturday night, apparently by the hands of former Jumbo-Visma cyclist Rohan Dennis. The incident occurred just meters from their home in Adelaide. Melissa was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in critical condition, where she passed away several hours later.

Shortly after, Rohan Dennis, a two-time World Time Trial champion who had recently retired from professional cycling, was behind the wheel of the truck. Dennis has been charged with “dangerous driving, careless driving, and endangering life resulting in death.” He has already been released on bail and is expected to appear in court on March 13th.
Australian newspaper reveals details of the case
Now, more details about what happened have been disclosed. The couple allegedly had an argument. “The Advertiser,” a local newspaper in Adelaide, writes that the police determined the woman was on the car’s hood to prevent Dennis from leaving.
She then grabbed the door handle. Melissa was subsequently dragged along the street until she fell to the ground, suffering severe injuries. Two teenagers from the neighborhood immediately took care of the woman. The newspaper also reveals that security cameras captured the incident.
Rohan and Melissa Dennis got married in 2018 and had a couple of children. Melissa Dennis was 32 years old. She was also a professional cyclist and became the world champion in the team pursuit in 2015.
