Ethiopian cyclist Tsgabu Grmay of Team Jayco AlUla has decided to end his career at the age of 32. Grmay has competed for several prominent teams during his career. Additionally, Tsgabu Grmay has participated eight times in Grand Tours.
The three Grand Tours in his career
In 2015, he started his first and only Giro d’Italia, and in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020, he participated in the Vuelta a España. He also competed in the Tour de France three times (2016, 2017, and 2018). He only failed to complete it once, in the Tour de France in 2018.
Grmay began his professional cycling career with the MTN Qhubeka team in 2012. After three seasons, he left MTN Qhubeka and signed a contract with Lampre-Merida. Grmay then competed for Bahrain Merida (2017), Trek-Segafredo (2018), and finally, Mitchelton-Scott and its successors (2019-2023).

Grmay’s honors list includes twelve professional victories, although they are mainly national and African titles. He became a three-time Ethiopian road champion and was the best Time Trialist in his country, a remarkable seven times. However, his first professional victory did not come on African soil but in the Tour de Taiwan.
