The main goal of the Roodhooft brothers’ team is to win a stage of the Vuelta a España. If they succeed, Alpecin-Deceuninck will continue the impressive streak of winning at least one stage in a Grand Tour. This streak has been ongoing since the Giro d’Italia in 2021. In every subsequent three-week race, it has been a success for the team.
The team is heading to Barcelona with several newcomers in a Grand Tour. Former rower and E-sports champion Jason Osborne is one of them, as well as mountain bike world champion Samuel Gaze, track cycling champion Robbe Ghys, and young Maurice Ballerstedt. The leader will be sprinter Kaden Groves, who, along with Edward Planckaert, Jimmy Janssens, and Tobias Bayer, will aim for stage victories in the 2023 Vuelta a España.
Kaden Groves will be starting his second Grand Tour in his first year with Alpecin-Deceuninck. This spring, he also competed in the Giro and won the sprint stage to Salerno. However, he did not reach the finish line in Rome. Winning in Vuelta will bring back memories, as Groves won the 11th stage in Spain last year with the Bike Exchange-Jayco team.
