Aleksandr Vlasov took second place for the second time in a span of four days at Challenge Mallorca. The 27-year-old Russian cyclist, from BORA-hansgrohe, expressed great frustration after losing in the sprint to Lennert van Eetvelt in the Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana.
“What a shitty ending that was”
“What a shitty ending this was”, complained Vlasov in the quick interview with Eurosport. “Why do you let the race end downhill? There really was no need for that!”
Remember the arrival
“We didn’t cycle the last five kilometers, because we didn’t want to take any risks on the way down, but I don’t understand why we didn’t end up on a climb. It really doesn’t make any sense!”
Big mistake
“I had very good legs and the climb went well, but I made a big mistake at the front by perhaps waiting too long to start my sprint, because I got stuck on the left and could no longer complete my sprint”, concluded the disappointed Russian cyclist after the your new second place.
