AG2R Citroën Team announces five contract renewals all at once

The French team AG2R Citroën Team has announced contract extensions for five cyclists. Geoffrey Bouchard, Paul Lapeira, Oliver Naesen, and Andrea Vendrame have all signed contract extensions with the team until 2025. Larry Warbasse, on the other hand, has extended his contract for one more season. So far, the French team has renewed the contracts of nine cyclists.

The team has posted the positions of the cyclists on its official website.

Oliver Naesen, who has been with the team since 2017, revealed that he will no longer serve exclusively as the team captain: “I will continue the adventure with the team in a different role from what I have played in the last seven seasons, where I was the captain. Of course, during the classics period, I will continue to try to shine. Things have evolved a bit at the highest level in recent years, and I want to approach the start of the season differently. I also want to pass on my experience to the younger riders.”

Larry Warbasse, who has been with the team since 2019, will continue as the team captain: “I like my role as team captain. We have many young riders, and it is a great pleasure for me to impart and share my knowledge. This will already be my 12th year as a professional.”

Geoffrey Bouchard expressed, “This is the next logical step. I thank Vincent Lavenu (team manager) and the entire team for giving me a chance five years ago and for trusting me again for the next two seasons.”

Andrea Vendrame said, “I want to help the young riders continue their progress and assist my teammates in achieving the utmost success.”

Paul Lapeira stated, “After my training years in the youth categories (U19 and U23) and these first two seasons among the professionals, I want to continue my progression. I am a rider who enjoys stability, and the environment in which I operate is perfect for me. After a period of adjustment, I managed to find my place among the riders and staff, and that also reassured me in the idea of continuing the adventure.”
