A Mexican phenomenon (still without a Pro Tour team) wins Tour de l’Avenir

Isaac Del Toro, at just 19 years old (who doesn’t yet have a contract with a professional team), shone in the final stage of the Tour de l’Avenir by winning the general classification. The Mexican cyclist, known for his climbing abilities, showcased his talent on the Col de l’Iseran, where he managed to distance himself from the classification leader, Matthew Riccitello.

The constant effort of Riccitello in the exhausting pursuit up to the final climb to Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise came at a high cost. The American athlete experienced a significant breakdown, conceding nearly three minutes to Del Toro. This advantage secured the overall victory for Del Toro, solidifying his excellent performance. The stage victory was achieved by Giulio Pellizzari.
