Starting next year, the Lotto Dstny team will no longer use bicycles from the Ridley brand. This rumor had been circulating for some time and has now been officially confirmed by the team management. According to information from HLN channel, the Belgian team has signed a contract with the Basque company Orbea to provide their bicycles.
The Spanish brand Orbea sponsored the Spanish team Euskaltel for years and also provided bicycles to Cofidis, B&B-Hotels, and Ceratizit for a while. Additionally, they were mainly investing in mountain bike bicycles.
“Our collaboration with Ridley will indeed end at the end of this year. We are switching to a new bicycle brand,” confirms General Manager Stéphane Heulot. “Not so much because we are not satisfied with the quality of the Ridley bicycle… We have chosen a different brand because we want to improve financially. This is necessary to be able to maintain our current core.”
Heulot also indicates that it is a “complicated case.” This is related to the contract that Lotto Dstny still has until 2025. This contract will therefore be broken, but according to HLN, it is still unclear how Lotto Dstny will resolve this.
