Zoe Clay, a 23-year-old cyclist, tragically lost her life after sustaining severe injuries in a fatal accident during a Cyclocross race on Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina, approximately 160 kilometers northwest of Charlotte.
Her family has started to raise funds for medical and funeral expenses through GoFundMe. The campaign, created just 24 hours ago, has already reached over $38,000 of its $50,000 goal.
“All funds raised will go directly to Zoe’s family,” says the GoFundMe page. Tributes to the young athlete, who lived in Winston-Salem, approximately 40 kilometers west of Greensboro, quickly appeared on social media.
