Vuelta a España 2023: Preview of Stage 8, it’s time for the major climbs

Great climbs have always been the hallmark of all editions of the Vuelta a España, and this edition is no different. They kick off in the 8th stage, from Dénia to Xorret de Catí.

Starting from Dénia, the first 20 km are flat, but after that, there are only two things to do: climb or descend. The Alto de Vall d’Ebo (7.9 km at 5.7%), the Puerto de Tollos (4.2 km at 5.6%), the Puerto de Benifallim (9.5 km at 4.9%), the Puerto de la Carrasqueta (10.9 km at 4.6%), and several uphill sections without points for the King of the Mountains classification.

However, the best is saved for last. There will be 3.6 km at an average gradient of 11.4%, with a maximum of 22%. Once at the summit, it descends for the first 2 km, followed by 1 km of slight ascent, leading to the finish line.
