Cyclists stage protest and interrupt race, watch the video

The final stage of the Renewi Tour (Belgium) was temporarily interrupted as the riders considered the route too dangerous.

The race was proceeding as usual until the arrival at the local circuit in Bilzen, when the peloton suddenly stopped to express their dissatisfaction with the hazardous circuit. According to some cyclists, the roads were deemed too narrow. However, not everyone agreed with this assessment.

Strong discussions followed. The classification leader Tim Wellens, Matteo Trentin, Yves Lampaert, and Oliver Naesen, among others, had to mediate and succeeded. The stage was eventually resumed, and the timing will be taken at a point five kilometers before the finish line.
