“Jonas Vingegaard spoke about the Vuelta a España in a statement released by Jumbo-Visma. The overall victory is the goal for Jumbo-Visma, and he will join forces with Primoz Roglic to achieve it.
“We need each other to reach our ultimate goal. It’s a very technical route. We have the riders for that type of job. I’m looking forward to starting with the team time trial and hope to get a good result right away,” said Vingegaard in a press release.”
“It’s a challenging edition with stages that should suit us. We’ll have to see how my form is in the first week. It’s always difficult to predict how the legs will feel after the rest. I feel good now and I’m curious to see how my body reacts in the early stages,” adds the Danish rider, who after winning the Tour de France, didn’t do any altitude training.
Jumbo-Visma will be very strong, with a supporting team that includes names like Sepp Kuss, Wilco Kelderman, and Dylan van Baarle, among others. However, Primoz Roglic will theoretically be the key player of the team, as both of us are contenders for the overall victory.”
“This isn’t the first time we start a stage race as teammates,” the Danish cyclist reassures, unconcerned about a potential conflict of interests. “It worked well with overall victories in the Vuelta a España and the Critérium du Dauphiné. We showed there that we have a good working relationship. We’re both looking forward to it.”
