The 2024 Volta ao Algarve continues this Saturday with a 22km Time Trial that should substantially modify the General Classification and play a role in deciding the overall winner of the competition.
Starting and finishing in Albufeira, stage 4 of the Time Trial is practically flat, so it should be a test for the discipline’s experts, which includes favorite and world champion Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step).
In the field of experts, Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers), Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) and Stefan Bissegger (EF Education-EasyPost) will be among those hoping to post a good first time in 2024.
However, the real interest will be among the GC contenders, with the likes of Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers), Tao Geoghegan Hart (Lidl-Trek), Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike) and current leader Dani Martinez (Bora- Hansgrohe), all with the aim of preserving or improving their overall positions.
