BORA-Hansgrohe is one of the last teams to reveal its lineup for the Vuelta a España, which will start in Barcelona next Saturday. Cyclist Aleksandr Vlasov takes on the role of team leader, however, the group presents several prominent climbers as they gear up for the Spanish competition.
At 27 years of age, the team leader has prepared exceptionally for the final Grand Tour of the season over the past few weeks. He secured third place in both the Clásica San Sebastián and the Vuelta a Burgos. Earlier this season, Vlasov took the spotlight in the Giro d’Italia, but due to a coronavirus infection, he had to withdraw from the competition after ten days.
Vlasov certainly won’t be without company in the Spanish mountains. The BORA-hansgrohe team has called upon Emanuel Buchmann, Sergio Higuita, Lennard Kämna, and Cian Uijtdebroeks for the Spanish tour. This marks Uijtdebroeks’ first time participating in a three-week competition at just 20 years old. On the other hand, Higuita, Kämna, and Buchmann bring their experience from major tours and could also be aiming for stage victories.
