Juan Sebastián Molano was forced to abandon the AlUla Tour after being involved in a fall at the end of the fourth stage, this Friday.
“Fortunately, an examination at the hospital showed no fractures,” UAE Team Emirates revealed in a statement via social media X. “But he will take a few days off to recover for the next competitions.”
DSM-firmenich PostNL cyclists also withdraw from the competition
Nils Eekhoff and Sam Welten will also not finish the AlUla Tour. The DSM-firmenich PostNL cyclists became ill and will not be able to start in the final stage of the competition. The team reported abandonments via X.
Eekhoff, 26, had a strong AlUla Tour. He guided sprinter Casper van Uden to a stage victory, whilst also achieving third place on the second day of racing in Saudi Arabia.
Competition ends this Saturday
The AlUla Tour ends on Saturday with a difficult stage. In the last 15 kilometers there is a climb of 2.8 km with an average of no less than 12.5% of average gradient. The test will be decided possibly today.
