Allan Davis has been dismissed from Lotto Dstny. The information comes from the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. The former Australian professional, who worked as a sports director for the Belgian team, was removed from his position at the end of June after a woman accused him of inappropriate behavior.
The woman accused Davis of sending unwanted messages on social media and shared screenshots. “It’s a personal matter. This has nothing to do with Lotto Dstny. We don’t want personal matters to mix with team matters,” the team responded to Het Nieuwsblad at the time.
The Australian himself was a professional cyclist from 2001 to 2014 and played a significant role as a domestique in the development of his compatriot and sprinter Caleb Ewan.
Davis had been the sports director of Lotto Dstny since 2022. In this role, he primarily looked after the sprinters and his fellow countryman Caleb Ewan in particular. The latter hasn’t reached the desired level in recent seasons and, despite having a contract until the end of 2024, seems to be on his way out of Lotto Dstny. Team manager Stéphane Heulot announced during the Tour de France that they will not be renewing the Australian’s contract.
