Movistar cyclist fractures his collarbone in accident during Challenge Mallorca

Alex Aranburu, a 28-year-old Spanish cyclist for the Movistar team, faced a significant setback to his season after suffering a broken collarbone. The incident occurred during the Trofeo Pollença-Port d’Andratx, the penultimate race of the Challenge Mallorca, this Saturday.

Aranburu was one of the favorites for the Trofeo Pollença-Port d’Andratx
Even before the start, Alex Aranburu was considered one of the main candidates for victory in the Trofeo Pollença-Port d’Andratx, however, unfortunately, his race had a different outcome. The Spanish cyclist fell to the ground during the final part of the race.

After medical evaluation, bad news was confirmed for both Aranburu and his team, Movistar: the cyclist’s right collarbone was fractured. Luckily, the fracture was non-displaced, which represents an advantage in terms of recovery.

The exact period of return to competition has not yet been defined for Aranburu, but it is certain that he will not be available to compete in the coming weeks. He had been making an excellent start to the season, with a third place in the Ruta de la Céramica, his first race of the year, followed by a fourth place in the Trofeo Calvià last Wednesday.
