Lennard Kämna will again seek the General Classification of the Giro d’Italia in 2024. After achieving a place in the top 10 in 2023, the German cyclist will seek to impress once again by taking on a leading role at Bora-Hansgrohe.
Same plan as in 2023
“Actually, the plan is the same as last year. I will start again as second leader, Daniel Martínez will be the first leader”, explains the 27-year-old, three-time Grand Tour stage winner, during the BORA-Hansgrohe media day in Mallorca. “I believe it is a position that suits me well.”
In recent years, Kämna has been seen more as a cyclist looking for stage wins, particularly in breakaways. However, in his first attempt at the general classification at last year’s Giro d’Italia, the German achieved an excellent 9th place overall.
The German cyclist, who is in the last year of his contract with BORA-Hansgrohe, makes no secret of the fact that victory is unlikely.
“I want to be able to be part of the race. If I finish fifth and I’m fully involved, I’m happy. And if it’s seventh, eighth, ninth and I’m totally involved, I’m happy too,” says the 27-year-old German.
