La Vila Joiosa-Neteo is the new Cyclocross team of Felipe Orts. In fact, it’s an individual team as the Spanish Champion has built a team and is carrying new colors in Cyclocross from January 1.
“I owe almost everything I am to Cyclocross and cycling in the Netherlands and Belgium. I made Cyclocross my specialty, a sport in which I am a reference,” said Orts to the Dutch website Wielerflits.
Sponsors with returns in the Netherlands and Belgium
“This means that I can have a significant impact for my sponsors in these two countries. When I decided to leave Burgos-BH (he continues to use bikes from the Spanish manufacturer), I thought, ‘Who would be interested in sponsoring our project?'”
“We then started looking for Spanish companies looking for brand awareness and product promotion in Belgium and the Netherlands… For me, riding with the name of my city on my chest is a very big responsibility.”
Spanish Champion reveals goals for 2024
“My goals for 2024 are changing. In my first year, I want to compete in as many MTB (Mountain Bike) and Gravel races in Spain as possible,” he continues. “The idea is to have a more international program in both disciplines starting from 2025.”
“It may even be that we direct my career towards the 2028 Olympic Games, where I would like to compete in Mountain Bike. This is still under discussion at the moment, but we will have to seek sponsorships for it.”
