O Australian National Criterium Championship ended in controversy due to a high-speed accident. Incidents like these are always concerning, especially when they involve the safety of cyclists and spectators.
Footage suggests that Caleb Ewan may have been at fault for the crash. With no barriers on the course to protect spectators, a cyclist lost control of the bike and fell onto the sidewalk, colliding with a spectator at high speed.
Another person, from a rear view, managed to capture the incident just a few meters away in terrifying images. A video recorded by a second spectator, however, shows that although Ewan supported the fallen rider, it appeared that he himself had an accidental touch of wheels that caused the chain reaction.
